One of the most exciting founders of the nu-jazz movement, Mark de Clive-Lowe, brings his 21st Century blend of jazz, ethnic music and urban grooves to Siam@Siam Design Hotel and Spa’s Party House One – May 30, 2007.

In concert with sponsors Beer Chang, Yamaha, Siam@Siam and other select sponsors; Mark de Clive-Lowe brings Bangkok into the world of Nu-Jazz.

Appearing in Bangkok via London and Tokyo, musician/producer Mark de Clive-Lowe’s May 30th performance at Party House One features the acclaimed soul diva Lady Alma, and will introduce Bangkok’s growing jazz scene to the fresh new (nu) sound that has been taking the forefront at Jazz Festivals and nightclubs across the globe. As one of the most innovative live performers and producers you’ll find anywhere, Mark de Clive-Lowe’s beat-heavy jazz/soul/funk performances feature full studio production improvised LIVE on stage with drum machines, synths, keyboards, effects, vocalists and musicians.

In addition to performing and producing his own CDs, Six Degrees and Tide’s Arising, over the past 7 years Mark has stamped his sound on over 200 releases collaborating with some of the most cutting-edge producers and artists around the world—including Leon Ware, Philadelphia’s Lady Alma, remixes for the likes of Jody Watley, Omar, Shirley Bassey and Brazilian superstar Ed Motta, and studio collaborations with Lauryn Hill and Pino Palladino [D’Angelo/The Who]. He has also remixed classic jazz tracks by Shirley Horn and Chico Hamilton for compilations released worldwide by Verve Records and Impulse! Records.

Mark de Clive-Lowe‘s Party House One performance also marks the City of Angels re-emergence onto Southeast Asia’s jazz concert circuit—putting Bangkok back on the map as a regular stop for legendary and master musicians touring the region.

“Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Jakarta have long played host to the world’s finest jazz musicians,” says Mark Bolam, Managing Director of Enlightened Planet, the concert producer for the Mark de Clive-Lowe event. “Yet few opportunities outside of the Jazz Festival circuit have been available for today’s great artists to perform in Bangkok. Enlightened Planet’s aim is to change that. Through a series of concerts and special venue events, beginning with Mark de Clive-Lowe at Party House One, we’ll be showcasing a new generation of master musicians, excited to be playing their special brand of music for Bangkok’s burgeoning world-savvy community of residents and expats.”

“I’m very excited to finally have an opportunity to play Bangkok,” says de Clive-Lowe. “For most jazz performers that tour the region Bangkok has been the perennial gap in the itinerary, but now, inspired people are taking action and it looks very much like the city is finally ready to come and join the scene. And that’s great news for everyone.”
